About This Blog and It's YouTube Channel And Why I Am Doing It

My plan is to release the following:

1: Videos of the guitar lessons/research/conversations for this project recorded thus far.

I am trying to document Rene Izquierdo's technique, thoughts on technique, the way he moves to execute technique, and exercises he believes are critical to develop technique. I also am trying to explain them using easy and accessible anatomy and physiology language.

I also am trying to translate these concepts to other styles like jazz, country, flamenco, etc. Many concepts will improve playing in other styles of music.

2: Some companion videos that explain some things from "1" that are not easy to follow in the video.

3: I will release on my blog some of the most important and compelling written content I have so far. Everything is “as is” and I will return to edit and polish over time.

4: Long term I will be serializing the rest of my content (PDF is 300 pages or something wild) on YouTube and my blog so I don't loose my mind overworking. I am hoping to live a normal life starting this summer but now requires a big push.

Below is a list of reasons why I am releasing content this way:

1: My motivation is ultimately to make the world a better place. If you take this seriously you will get better.

2: To see if anyone ends up wanting this or finds it useful. Without feedback from the internet as to whether or not this is of interest and useful I don't think dumping alot of time and money is prudent or practical. I think there is enough here to see if people want more and if there is interest in cleaning up what I currently have.

3: To get feedback and other ideas/opinions. If my ambition meets reality I have come up with a simple language to describe alot about how virtuosos move and think about movement and muscular exertion (tension). I need other people to learn this, experiment, give their own thoughts/observations/opinions/solutions. I need people to also point out what I missed.

4: A meaningful following of this content on my YouTube channel will probably be necessary to then take next steps such as selling this to publishers or creating more sophisticated video and audio media.

5: One of my hopes is these videos give my guitar teachers (Rene and his wife Elina) more time back in their lives. Students can use these videos so Rene does not have to repeat himself or spend as much time. New students can come more prepared and ready to learn from him.

6: The selfish part: to plant my flag on the moon (metaphorically). I want at least a chance of putting my ideas and my organization of those ideas out and getting a chance to make something of them. Not money, or fame, but maybe some intellectual ownership or claiming of some intellectual territory; to say that I am the one who thought this up, chased it, and executed it.
